Directed Studies

Directed Studies courses allow students to pursue independent research under the guidance of a faculty member.

Application process

A Directed Studies course can be offered in a specific area of knowledge for which no graduate level classes are regularly offered. The required Directed Reading Form must be completed and returned to the department before registration can take place.

The instructor offering a Directed Studies class shall give a copy of the approved description to the student at the beginning of the class, and shall explain the details.

If a final report is a class requirement, a copy of the class description shall be included as an appendix to the report. A copy of the report shall be retained by the Instructor for at least one calendar year as per University regulations.
