BDH students to represent Dalhousie at business competition in New Brunswick

Posted by Katie Ciavaglia on January 6, 2014 in News

Dalhousie’s Bachelor of Dental Hygiene students have created a business plan for their New Venture Creation course that is gaining recognition.

Students Jordan Cameron, Morgan Hanrahan, Stephanie Innes, Alexandra MacGregor and Sarah Wade have been working on a mobile dental hygiene business plan for their business course this semester. Last month, the group won third place and $500 in their in-class competition that was comprised primarily of business students.

The BDH students’ business plan focuses on a mobile dental hygiene clinic called Dynamic Dental Hygiene. The purpose of this course was to gain an understanding of the concept of creating a business venture.

The professor for the course, Dr. Angelo Dossou-Yovo, approached the BDH students asking them to represent Dalhousie’s School of Business at the BMO Apex Business Plan Competition. The competition which takes place at the end of January brings together aspiring entrepreneurs from across Canada and around the world to compete in the region's premier business plan competition.

Teams compete in a series of events at either the undergrad or graduate levels in front of accomplished judges.

This is the first time that dental hygiene students have been asked to represent Dalhousie at this competition.

Congratulations to our BDH students and good luck at the competition!
