Specialty Clinics

We have several specialty clinics that support various aspects of dentistry, including:

• oral diagnosis
• radiology instruction
• oral surgery treatment
• implant procedures
• oral pathology
• eldercare
• periodontal surgery

Our emergency clinic provides care for patients experiencing pain, bleeding and swelling, and for those who do not have a private dentist. Our general practice residents provide care for more complicated emergencies and medically compromised patients.

We also operate three outreach clinics—two in public elementary schools in the area and one in Halifax's North End Community Health Centre. The elementary school clinics provide community dentistry experiences for our students and access to dental care for school-age children. The North End clinic gives our students experience with disadvantaged populations, as they learn to provide emergency care, preventative care and support for patients in the North End community.

We also have a graduate periodontics program where patients can be referred by their private dentists. The program supports our undergraduate students' patient care as required.
