The Clairmont Centre for Community Safety Research
The Clairmont Centre for Community Safety Research (the Clairmont Centre) was established in 2023 to replace its predecessor, the Atlantic Institute of Criminology (AIC). Named after the AIC’s long-standing Director, Professor Donald Clairmont, the Clairmont Centre acts as a ‘meeting place’ for diverse research and innovation partnerships that seek to reduce harms and improve community safety in Atlantic Canada.
The Clairmont Centre focuses on applied research, evaluation, and knowledge exchange in partnership with policy-makers, practitioners, community organizations, and other academics. The Clairmont Centre also provides research opportunities for graduate students interested in building skills in applied social science research.
Research partnerships and consultation services are available to government, community, and academic partners for planning and executing research and evaluation projects. If you are interested in working with the Clairmont Centre, please reach out to the Director, Dr. Chris Giacomantonio to discuss.
