Associate Professor Laura Eramian's research on friendlessness, conducted with Dr Peter Mallory of St Francis Xavier University, made the news recently. Dr Eramian was interviewed on CTV News Atlantic and CBC Radio's Information Morning. The media attention focused on the findings in their open access article published in the Canadian Review of Sociology with alum Morgan Herbert (BA Hons and MA in Social Anthropology) on friendlessness and loneliness. The article explores how people make sense of having few or no friends, with experiences ranging from loneliness and isolation to celebration of autonomy and self-reliance.
