Financial suppport for graduate students

The university and School offer, on a competitive basis, a limited number of scholarships, teaching assistantships, and research assistantships. Submit your application by December 1 to be automatically considered for all types of assistance.

Fountain Graduate Fellowships

The Fountain School of Performing Arts offers a limited number of Fountain Graduate Fellowships to incoming MA students who demonstrate excellence in academic scholarship. Candidates with a minimum A- GPA, equivalent to a Dalhousie GPA of 3.7 will be prioritized. All applicants who have applied by December 1 will be considered. Institutional and national scholarships

Some institutional and national scholarships require a separate application. The most common scholarships are:

* All Canadian applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for a Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS-M). In order to be nominated for a Master's-level Killam fellowship, applicants have to have applied to CGS-M or, in the case of international applicants, its equivalent.

** To be considered for departmental funding, all applicants must complete Dalhousie's Harmonized Scholarship Process (HSP), which allows students to apply for both the Killam and the NSGS (and others) with one application.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies Conference Travel Grant

The Faculty of Graduate Studies awards conference travel grants to full-time graduate students in Master's thesis programs. In order to be eligible, students must present a poster or paper based on the results of their graduate thesis research at a national or international scholarly meeting or conference. Students are eligible to apply for one travel grant per graduate degree at Dalhousie. Students must be registered in a graduate program at the time of application and at the time of the conference. The maximum travel grant awarded is $500, this amount is subject to change. For more information, see the FGS website.
