Current Graduate Students

The Political Science Department at Dalhousie strives to offer our graduates a small and intimate learning as well as focused research experience. Many of our graduate students are the recipients of prestigious scholarships including Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Killam Memorial Trust, the Trudeau Foundation, and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). As well as internal awards including the prominent Glyn Berry Award, the departmental FGS Scholarship, Keens-Morden Scholarship, and Margaret Meagher Fellowship.

Annually our graduate students host an international symposium - inviting students from across the globe to share their research on a selected social and political issue determined by the graduate society.  The topic for 2015 was "System Breakdown?: Critical Reflections on the EU in Crisis" where they teamed up with the Jean Monnet European Union Centre of Excellence on March 19-20th; Ambassador of the EU to Canada, Marie-Anne Coninsx was an outstanding guest speaker and addition to the program for presenters from many walks of life and international locations.

In addition to their studies, many of our graduates also have the opportunity to work with on campus international agencies such as the Centre for the Study of Security and Development and the Jean Monnet European Union Centre of Excellence - which provide local opportunities for collaboration with faculty as well as students. There is the prospect for future graduate students to follow past and current students with internships in various international agencies, including but not limited to, the US Consulate, United Nations, and NATO.

We at Dalhousie, strive to give our graduate students the chance to participate in an intimate environment of learning with collaboration beyond the academic stage. Profiles of our current students' experiences and research interests are below.
