8th Annual Political Science Graduate Symposium

Presented by: the Dalhousie Political Science Graduate Student Society and the Centre for Foreign Policy Studies.

March 8th – 9th, 2013 Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia

Power is shifting between societies, countries, and regions. New powers are emerging, while some of the world’s oldest, greatest powers are in decline. The processes of globalization are “shrinking” the world. These changes have momentous and far-reaching impacts. What does this mean for Canada?

With this theme in mind, the Symposium Committee welcomes submissions from a variety of disciplines which discuss Canadian domestic policy in an international context and/or international issues which have implications for domestic Canadian politics.

Below are some examples of possible topics:

Human Rights

Immigration and Refugee Policy

Environmental Policy

Health

Defense/International Relations (e.g. Responsibility to Protect, Peacekeeping, Arctic Sovereignty)

Submissions:

Please send a 300-word abstract to: gradsym@dal.ca TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR TRAVEL SUBSIDIES, SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS JANUARY 31st 2013.  Selected papers will be published in an edited volume by the Centre for Foreign Policy Studies in August 2013.
