CRWR 3100 Songwriting: Creative Writing for Lyric Forms

This course will explore songwriting as a literary genre, with emphasis on the writing of lyrics and the interplay between words and music. Students will receive peer feedback on their original songs in a workshop environment. Basic knowledge of and access to a basic voice recorder (or audio recording software like  GarageBand, WavePad, or Audacity) is required. You will have the option of performing live for the class or playing a recording of your work (either sung by yourself or someone you’ve enlisted as a performer). No experience playing a musical instrument is required, however musical exploration is essential.
