TRIPPING ON ICOSAHEDRONS: SPACE CHIPS DIE CUT/ZOMETOOL/MAGNUS POPKO!
Site: Bridges Conference 2023 at Dalhousie University School of Architecture, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This Free Labs project involves the exploartion of material and form. Students will work on individual and group builds.
Space Chips Die Cut: a quick hands on way to build and explore polyhedral forms. Students will work with locally collected recyled cardboard pieces that have been die cut into three, four, five, and six sided shapes that slot together.
Zometool: students will work with Zometool materials and vZome software to create structures similar to The Chris Kling Memorial Triacontahedron built by Chris Kling at the Bridges Conference 2009.
MAGNUS POPKO!: using various modelling techniques, students will create various models and a finished prototype based on an original sculpture by Dick Esterle using paper, wood, plastics, wire, and string.
Project coordinator and instructor: Dick Esterle
