Organic Friends' E‑zine: October 2016
Photo of the Month
The 2nd Canadian Organic Science Conference was a great success! Held in Montreal-Longueuil in September, the conference provided a welcomed opportunity for organic researchers, producers and other stakeholders to interact, share their latest research findings, and spend time on local organic farms. Keynote talks, such as this talk by FiBL’s Urs Niggli, also prompted participants to reflect on the future of organic agriculture. Participate in the 2016-2017 Canadian Organic Research Needs and Priorities Assessment |
We want your input! Have your say in guiding research priorities for Canada’s organic sector. Collect your thoughts with a group of peers and participate in the 2016-17 assessment of organic research needs and priorities. A clear list of research priorities is needed to guide provincial and national funding initiatives and inform researchers as to where they should direct their efforts. The Research Needs Task Force of the Organic Value Chain Roundtable is leading this initiative; data is being collected and summarized by the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada, Dalhousie University. Visit the OACC website for more details, videos to inspire and instruct you through the process, and forms to submit with your input by February 28, 2017. |
Celebrating 25 years for the Glenlea Long-term Rotation Trial!
|
In September, the organic community celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Glenlea rotation. Led by Martin Entz at the University of Manitoba, this inspirational long-term rotation trial has provided many important insights into organic production practices.
