The Faculty of Agriculture recently welcomed a delegation of 17 Romblon State University (RSU) representatives along with Congressman Eleandro Jesus F. Madrona and Lisette Arboleda, Municipal Mayor of the Municipality of Looc to campus, to explore and benchmark Dalhousie University as a twinning partner in the development of a new, smart agricultural campus in Romblon Province, Philippines.
Delegates received wide exposure to Dalhousie programs, strategic discussions and knowledge-sharing activities. They also participated in five industry exposure visits from Masstown to Port Williams, visited several cultural and tourist attractions and met with Nova Scotia government officials and two Members of Parliament.
The one-week benchmarking visit concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Dr. Merian P. Catajay Mani, President of RSU and Mr. Matthew Hebb, Vice President of Government and Global Relations.
“The Faculty of Agriculture is excited and honoured to partner with RSU on this collaborative journey to learn from each other in an effort to bring innovation and sustainability to agriculture and fisheries,” said Lana Bos, Manager International Centre, Truro.
Youth Enrichment Camp
As a direct result of the partnership visit, Dal AC International is in the planning stages of offering a summer 2025 Enrichment Camp for 20 RSU students from agriculture and fisheries.
“We are excited to welcome students to campus to participate in experiential learning and hands-on activities with Dal AC faculty and staff,” Bos added.
