ETD (Educational Technology & Design) is encouraging any new Brightspace users or anyone wanting to brush up on their skills to check out the virtual Brightspace Bootcamp being offered by ATS (Academic Technology Services) in Halifax.
Back-to-back sessions on various topics will run on August 22nd through Collaborate Ultra, from 9 am to 12 pm, and 1 pm to 3:30 pm. No registration is needed!
Schedule:
9:00 – 10:00 - Brightspace Refresher
Do you need help finding your course space? Maybe you need to add a TA? Come to our Brightspace Refresher hour to ensure your Fall courses are ready for September 3!
10:00 – 11:00 – Panopto & Teams
Do you want to start recording your lectures? Are you in a Panopto enabled classroom? If so, start recording lectures and add them to your course space. Going to miss a class due to a conference? Record it prior to and leave it for the students to watch while you’re away.
Also, we will explore how to create a Teams meeting in Brightspace for your students.
11:00 – 12:00 – Top Hat (Daniela Trivino)
Top Hat will be on hand to talk to Instructors about using the Student Response System.
12:00 – 1:00 – Break for Lunch
1:00 – 2:00 – Proctorio (Nikki Hall)
Proctoring assessments, online or in-person, safeguards exam and course integrity. This is essential to protecting the value of certification and degree programs. Proctorio offers our users the opportunity and flexibility to achieve their educational and career goals.
2:00 – 3:00 – Turnitin (Tracey DeLillo)
Turnitin, which has replaced Ouriginal, is designed to ensure academic integrity via a convenient integration with Brightspace courses, which allows both instructors and students to instantly see where text matching has occurred. No matter what you teach, this session will be a practical experience for any new or experienced Turnitin user who wants to better understand how to utilize the software. You will learn how to create a Turnitin Assignment, how best to use optional settings and filters, how students submit, and how to view and interpret the Similarity report.
3:00 – 3:30 – New Features & Questions
Find out what’s coming up in Brightspace for new features. Ask questions about our products and tools.
