Dalhousie Information Technology Services (ITS) is excited to launch an online cybersecurity training course, Privacy, Security, & You – Guidelines for Working at Dalhousie University.
You have an important role and your help as a key contact person in your unit will be valuable for the success of the program. We gently ask you to share the questions and answers below in your department and encourage faculty participation. Please visit the course page on myDal for additional information and contact Jeevitha Ravi from our Information Security Office if you have any questions.
Who Should Take the Course?
This course is mandatory for Dal staff and faculty, including:
· Full-time staff members
· Full-time faculty members
· Part-time staff members
· Part-time faculty members
· Grant-paid employees
· Temporary employees
About the Course
In today's digital world, staying safe online is crucial. This cybersecurity training course, created in partnership with Dalhousie Faculty of Open Learning & Career Development, will provide you with the knowledge and skills to protect yourself and Dalhousie's data.
Course deadline
The cybersecurity training course will be rolled out in phases. Faculty members will have a 45-day deadline to complete it. Please note that for your department, the start date is September 2nd,2024 and the course must be completed by October17, 2024. Advise your team members to finish the course early to enter the prize draw on September 2nd ,2024.

By completing the course, you will automatically be entered into a draw for exciting prizes on September 2, 2024.

How Long is the Course?
This course has 4 modules, each lasting 15-20 minutes. It’s self-paced; you can stop anywhere within a module and return to it later. Once you have completed the 4 modules, you will answer a final quiz with 10 questions. Your score on the quiz must be greater than or equal to 80% to pass. After successfully completing the training course, you can download or print out a certificate.

3. Click Register
4. Click Submit
5. Click Finish

1. Log in to Brightspace
2. Click on Academic Support on the navigation menu bar
3. Click on Self-Registration
4. Search for Cybersecurity Training - Guidelines for Working at Dalhousie University on the list of self-registration courses
5. Click on the training course link
6. Click Register
7. Click Submit
8. Click Finish
