The Angela Gourd Memorial Fund (AGMF) Bursary offers financial assistance to a student at an Atlantic Canadian University who is pursuing a career in the agriculture industry. Angela had a profound passion for agriculture all her life. She excelled academically and professionally in the agriculture industry, and pursued both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Dalhousie University (formerly the Nova Scotia Agricultural College).
Angela continued her love for agriculture as she worked for the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture where she was highly respected professionally and loved to practice her knowledge of the industry in the community and on a personal level. Angela was an individual who maximized happiness both personally and professionally. Her outlook on each day was spectacular. This award in Angela’s honour provides a $1,000 bursary to a student with interests related to food security and agricultural sustainability.
Students are encouraged to apply if they are entering their third or fourth year of an undergraduate or a Master’s program in (but not limited to) Agriculture, Biology, or Environmental Science, with area of study focusing on plant science, agricultural sustainability, or food security. For full eligibility requirements and award application, please contact angelagourdmemorialfund@gmail.com. Deadline for submission is September 30.
