Beginning the week of October 30, construction will begin on the upper floor of the MacRae Library. This will result in disruptions heard on the middle (main floor) of the Library. For quiet study spaces, patrons are encouraged to check out our recently refreshed lower level, with over 50 individual workspaces and group study rooms.
We can’t wait to serve our community in the completely renovated upper level, expected to reopen in April 2018. The new Student Learning Commons will be a space unlike any other on campus, combining academic library services and student collaboration spaces in an open-concept design with lots of natural light, glass and bright colours.
Features of the new Student Learning Commons include:
· an intercultural room
· a meditation space
· gender neutral washrooms
· hand and foot washing stations
· a self-serve café
· a bookable video conferencing room for students
· a dividable program room with capacity for up to 60 people,
bookable by student societies, staff, and faculty
· a living wall
· an Aboriginal mural
· a variety of seating options
