On May 3, 2017 the first Innovations in Agri-Education Symposium was held on our campus.
After a warm welcome from Dean Gray, participants heard about a wide variety of innovative learning approaches being used on campus. These included real-life applications (Cultiv8, Chef’s Garden), the incorporation of industry members into our classes, student-led community learning and competency-focused learning, as well as using technology to support learning (on-line and ‘digital chalk boards’).
The 42 participants were from all four academic departments as well as Extended Learning and Educational Technology and Design and included faculty, instructors, grad students and one undergrad student.
Participants noted that they liked the ‘short snapper and panel’ format and suggested that this in-Faculty sharing should be offered again next year.
