This past weekend, 14 students from the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus judging team travelled to Quebec to compete in a judging competition hosted by Université Laval. Three teams and two individuals represented Dal AC against strong competitors from Université Laval, MacDonald Campus of McGill University and Guelph University.

The competition consisted of a livestock and crop division with placings, reasons and quiz classes. The morning competition consisted of Dairy, Beef EPD’s, Pig, Feed, Poultry, Rabbit ID and an Agriculture Quiz. The afternoon competition consisted of TMR, Maple Syrup, Horticulture, Quebec Cheeses, Economy, Insect ID and a Crop Quiz.  

An awards banquet was held after the competition where Dalhousie proved once again they were contenders for the competition. Most notably was that the team had eight rookies and all three teams placed in the top four overall for the competition. When it came down to announcing the top overall judge, Dal AC had six judges in the top ten for the competition. Overall, it was a successful trip for the team and special thanks to Université Laval for hosting!
