To help celebrate Welcome Week 2016, The Faculty of Agriculture is profiling some of the people you will meet across the campus community in your travels on your new path at the Faculty of Agriculture.

The People in Our Neighborhood: Angelisa Osmond

Where are you from: Stephenville, Newfoundland.

What program will you be doing at Dal?
In the upcomng fall semester, I will be enrolled in the Pre-veterinary Medicine Program offered at Dalhousie's Agricultural Campus.

Why did you choose this program?
I selected Dalhousie's Pre-Veterinary program because of its diversity in teaching methods, including hands on-experience with both larger breeds of farm animals and domestic companions.

Why did you choose to complete your program at Dal's Faculty of Agriculture?
I knew that pursuing the Pre-veterneinary program offered at Dals' Faculty of Agriculture would allow me to have the best possible educational experience with a great sense of community. This program is unique with its field work opportunities for students and the opportunity to network with certified veterinarians.

What are you looking forward to the most in your first year?
In my first year at Dal's Agricultural campus, I'm looking forward to broadening my practical field experience to include working with farm animals as I have previous experience working with marine mammals, marine invertebrates as well as domestic companions. I worked as a Student Assistant at the Ocean Science Research Facility in the the Seal research Lab. During my time there I was in charge of training three Harp seals, maintaining their health and well-being as well as recording data on their memory, vision and mental capabilities.

What do you hope to do with your education once you graduate?
Upon graduating from this program, I will be applying to the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI In hopes of pursuing a career in Veterinary medicine.
