Each year the Dalhousie Agricultural Students’ Association, along with the graduating class, selects a faculty or staff member to receive the Student Appreciation Award.
This individual has made a huge impact in students’ lives. The 2016 recipient is Dr. Jin Yue.
Dr. Yue has been extremely involved in student life on campus. He is dedicated to students and can often be found at the Math and Physics Centre helping students in the evenings with Calculus and Statistic courses (which many of our students have trouble with), or taking in an early morning practice by our woodsmen team on campus. He is energetic, student oriented and knows all of his students by name. One student has even mentioned “Jin Yue is a recognized celebrity on our campus. Even if you didn’t have a course with him, you know who he is”.
Class of 2016 grad Rachel Hirtle presents the Student Appreciation Award to professor Jin Yue.
Dr. Yue is supportive of student events outside of the classroom including the Woodsmen competition, Farmers Olympics during College Royal and the annual play put on by the Drama Society. Everywhere students are competing, contributing to campus or just having fun, Dr.Yue is there supporting their efforts!
Inside the classroom he is known for his energetic flair and fun attitude. He truly makes calculus and statistic courses enjoyable for students. When asked “Why do you teach on this campus when you could teach at other schools?” Jin is quoted as saying “I love it here. The campus is beautiful and everyone is very nice.”
Congratulations Dr. Jin Yue!
