Introducing 2016/2017 DASA Executive

President: Alana Bent

Hey, My name is Alana Bent and I’ve just been elected DASA president for the upcoming school year of 2016-2017! I’m from a dairy farm located in the Annapolis Valley and next year will be the fourth and final year of my undergrad studies in plant science here at the Dal AC. I am very excited to be part of DASA next year as I believe it is a great way to get involved and make sure that every student has the best experience here as they can. Another reason why I’m excited to be on DASA is that I want to be able to provide different opportunities to students that they wouldn’t be able to get on any other campus. I’m really excited to work with the new DASA executive and I think that everyone is going to bring something awesome to the table, which will make for a great year!

VP Administration: Cora Sharp

Hey there, my name is Cora Sharp and I am going in to my third year of Environmental Sciences here at the AC. I come from the beautiful town of Sussex, NB and some people call me Corndog. I was elected DASA’s VP Administration for the upcoming academic year. I am very excited to be a part of DASA this year because I know what DASA has to offer. The last two years I have been watching as my friends and family have been on the DASA team making a difference in the campus and I couldn’t help but want to get involved with them. This incoming executive is very enthusiastic, energetic and involved in all aspects of campus life. I know that we will be able to give students the opportunities that they are looking for starting and continuing on with their education. Stay tuned for all the exciting things DASA has to offer next year!

VP Internal: Kamryn Findlay

Hi everyone! My name is Kamryn Findlay and I am very excited to be a part of the upcoming DASA executive for 2016/2017.  I am honored to be able to represent our students as VP of Internal Affairs on campus. I am excited to be a part of the DASA executive for many reasons. Firstly, as I have mentioned, I cannot wait to be able to represent our students on campus and to be able to serve as a voice for our student body with any rising issues especially with the concerns of the increase in tuition. As VP of Internal Affairs, I look forward to working closely with all of our amazing and active clubs on campus. I hope that our students know that I can be easily approached with any suggestions, ideas, or concerns that they may have regarding the student life on campus. I am certainly looking forward to another amazing academic year on the Agricultural Campus. Aggies once, Aggies twice!

VP External: Ellen Sharp

Hi there! My name is Ellen Sharp and I am excited to be returning to DASA as the VP of external affairs. I love being involved in making the atmosphere here at the AC a fun and inclusive experience for all students! Presence on DASA helps me to bring ideas to the table so that they can be made a reality. Being deeply involved on campus helps me to recognize issues and successes, which is one of the many amazing things about the students’ association. We are students and we know the students. I also love the competitiveness that the house challenges bring to the campus and I think that they give the students a sense of pride and community in their campus. Here’s to 2016/2017! Aggies once, Aggies twice!

VP Finance: Jeremy Stroud

Hey everyone, I am tremendously excited to represent student interests this year as VP of Finance on DASA! I can’t wait to get back to Canada in September to start working on what I have planned:

It goes without saying that I will back student interests. I hope to specifically engage International students with Canadian social groups. I was an international student last year, so I know how tough it is to be properly immersed into a new culture.

I aim to establish an Agri-Investment Club for everyone to join. Members will learn about investing, and over the course of the year we will analyze, pitch and invest in agri-based equities.

Further, I won’t make any promises, but I hope to vouch for puppies to be brought in during exam periods. It is a proven method to reduce stress and is pretty adorable.

I’m confident DASA will be awesome next year and I’m looking forward to proving that statement.
