Thank a Donor Week ‑ Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture Bursaries

Posted by Stephanie Rogers on November 19, 2015 in Alumni & Friends, News

The Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture (NSFA) has represented the interests of Nova Scotia’s agricultural community since 1985. Today its members account for well over 90 per cent of all agricultural production in Nova Scotia. With an organizational structure that includes representation from 13 county and regional federations and 27 recognized agricultural commodity groups, the NSFA brings together over 2400 individual farm businesses representing all aspects of primary agriculture in the province.

Because of its deep connection to agricultural life, it is very fitting that the NSFA join forces with the Faculty of Agriculture to support student success.

The NSFA first began generously donating to the former Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1989. Currently, the NSFA supports five Faculty of Agriculture awards (Ira L. Rhodenizer Memorial Scholarship, NSFA 100th Anniversary Scholarship, NSFA Scholarship, NSFA Technical Scholarship and Friends of the Federation Scholarship). In 2015, the NSFA added two new scholarships to its roster: one specifically for technical students and the Friends of the Federation Scholarship.

The NSFA established the Friends of the Federation Scholarship for undergraduate students, creatively challenging its members to give as well. The NSFA kindly committed to matching all gifts made by member organizations, families and individuals. The organization’s wish for this scholarship is to support agricultural education and students with career goals in primary agriculture. The Agricultural Campus certainly has plenty of students with that dream in mind.

The Faculty of Agriculture is grateful for the generous support of donors like the NSFA.
