New Truro One‑Act Play Festival Announces Lineup and Ticket Prices

The Truro One-Act Play Festival will put on six shows on September 26th & 27th, five of which have been written by local playwrights. Tickets are on sale now at the Marigold Centre, and online via Ticketpro.ca. Individual show passes are available for $9.00, and a Full Festival Pass is available for $20.00.

The Truro One-Act Play Festival is an opportunity for the community to experiment with playwriting, directing, acting, and designing shows. The festival is open to all ages and professional backgrounds, and encourages community wide participation. Five of six shows have been written by local playwrights, all six shows are directed by local directors, and a cast of local talent supports each performance.

The festival lineup will run both Saturday September 26th and Sunday September 27th at the Marigold Cultural Centre, providing a diverse body of entertainment, covering a wide array of subjects:

The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet – A fun family-friendly interpretation of the classic tale, written by Peter Bloedel. Directed by Jennie Appleby.

Parasites - An abstract exploration of the process of reclaiming one's life. Written by Paul Zann. Directed by Keltie Jones.

Luna Chick - A glimpse into the hearts and minds of women battling depression and anxiety. Written and Directed by Leana Todd.

Last Thoughts - A 19-year-old Bob Dylan has just arrived in New York City in January, 1961. The inspiration he encounters will change the course of his life forever. Written and Directed by Craig Johnson & Jennie Appleby.

Proud - A profound story of reconciliation, a father and son reunite after many years, and begin to resolve their differences, and unearth a shared experience of life, love, and death. Written by Rob Lutz. Directed by Margot Begin.

5 Minutes to Curtain – A story of a young woman’s experience with end-of life, expressed by and intertwined with themes explored by classic literature. Written by Ann Foster & Sam Madore. Directed by Cathrine Yuill.

All six plays will run twice throughout the weekend at the following times:

“Parasites,” “Luna Chick, and “Last Thoughts” – 3:00pm (14+)

Proud” and “Five Minutes to Curtain” – 7:00pm (14+)
