Truro native and colonial history professor Dr. Elizabeth Vibert, of the University of Victoria, will speak on food security in Africa through the prism of the Hleketani women’s cooperative farm in South Africa. The Hleketani community’s action in time of crisis and over the past twenty years is an example of how local action for sustainable food production can give women and communities a measure of control over their food and their futures.
