» Go to news mainNew Faces at Dal‑AC: Visiting Scholars from Sichuan Agricultural University
Dr. Li Zhang, a professor from Sichuan Agricultural University of China, joined the Department of Environmental Sciences at the end of September 2014 and will be here for a year as a visiting scholar funded by China Scholarship Council.
Dr. Zhang’s research focus is on biology and natural product chemistry of medicinal plants, especially the plants in the Genus Salvia. At Dal-AC, Dr. Zhang is working with Dr. Vasantha Rupasinghe in investigating anticancer properties of Salvia species grown in Canada and China. It is expected that this collaborative initiative opens up joined research and academic program between the two institutions.
Yuanyuan Jiang, a PhD. student of Sichuan Agricultural University, has also joined Dal-AC to conduct a part of her Doctorate research under the co-supervision of Drs. Zhang and Rupasinghe. The two year placement of Yuanyuan is also funded by the Chinese Scholarship Council.
