Three grads to attend Atlantic School of Business Conference

Posted by Stephanie Rogers on September 11, 2014 in News, Research

Three graduates have successfully submitted their fourth year project papers to the 44th Atlantic Schools of Business Conference (ASB).

The conference will be hosted this year by Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax. Ashley MacDonald’s paper entitled “A Strategic Industry Life Cycle Analysis for Nova Scotia’s New World Wines” has been accepted in the strategy stream.

Andrea MacDonald is in the Entrepreneurship and innovation track with her work on “Attitude Toward Innovations: The Case of New Brunswick Farmers & One-Pass Tillage”.

Katie Munroe’s paper was accepted by the Social Issues and Ethics section; she wrote about “Social Media Discourse and Genetically Modified Organisms”.

All three students were supervised by Dr. Christopher Hartt who edited their submissions for the research methods course into academic papers and serves as second author for each.  Most of the participants at ASB will be faculty from the Atlantic Region’s Business Schools who will be presenting their latest research; there is also a consortium for PhD and other Doctoral Students and a case competition sponsored by KPMG.

Last year the event was in Antigonish and in addition to faculty from all of the expected universities there were also presenters from universities in New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Botswana, as well as across Canada and a few from the United States. It is rare for an undergraduate to be invited to present in the main program.
