Replace old fridges and freezers at $0 Cost to Departments at the Agricultural Campus - sign up by Friday, Nov. 22th at 5 pm.

Dalhousie University is pleased to work with Efficiency NS on this immediate special opportunity to replace 10 year old or older campus refrigerators and freezers for $0 cost to departments at the Agriculture Campus. Three models of ENERGY STAR refrigerators/freezers are provided. Please visit the Office of Sustainability website to see the pdf (right side of page) for model descriptions and names: http://www.dal.ca/dept/sustainability.html

Program details:

•       Refrigerators and freezers must be at least ten years old or older to be replaced in this program.

•       $0 Cost to Departments. Funding will be provided through University Sustainability Projects energy savings and discounts and rebates through Efficiency NS.

•       Household fridges and freezers used for any campus activity such as lab research and kitchens are eligible. Please note appliances need to be cleaned out before pick up and provide no risk to Efficiency NS program partner. This is also a good time to consider consolidation to reduce total units.

•       Department/Faculty employees sign up to order ENERGY STAR fridges and freezers (three models available) by Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at 5 pm. Send the name of fridge and/or freezer from the pdf on our website, quantities, contact person information, and exact location (building and room for the exchange) to rethink@dal.ca

•       Appliances are delivered and old units are removed. It takes roughly 4-6 weeks for ordering. Delivery of the new appliance and removal of the older item will be scheduled early in the new year and will be coordinated by the Office of Sustainability. Participants will be notified of their delivery day in the new year.

•       Please note there is no extra funding for fridge modifications such as guard rails.

•       Rather than landing up in a landfill, 95 percent to 98 percent of the appliance components are recycled.

•       There is a one-year warranty on all products (no modifications to the product).

•       For an extra prize submit a picture of your fridge/freezer if you think you have the oldest!
