Dalhousie ‑ still one of Canada's Top 100 Employers

Posted by stephanie rogers on October 21, 2013 in News

I’m very pleased to announce Dalhousie has been acknowledged as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for the third year in a row. The recognition is a testament to our engaged and dedicated faculty and staff, as well as efforts across the university to support our employees.

You can read more about this announcement on Dal News.

Dalhousie is one of only five universities to make this prestigious list, a sign that even compared to our peers in higher education, there’s truly something special here at Dal. Your work deserves high praise — and you deserve an employer dedicated to providing a supportive, inclusive and encouraging work environment.

That’s our commitment to you. We know we have a lot to live up to, but we work hard to attract and retain the very best faculty and staff and to support them with benefits, services and opportunities that value what they bring to our university.

In my transition, and through the 100 Days of Listening, I’ve gotten to see first-hand the talent of our faculty and staff. Your successes in recent years — in the classroom, in the lab, in research funding competitions, in service delivery, in innovation, in fundraising — are well earned. As our community grows, such as with the incredible faculty/staff at our Faculty of Agriculture, so too does our impact as a university.

There’s more work to be done, of course. Through initiatives like our Workplace Survey (expect the 2013 results in the coming weeks), the 100 Days of Listening and ongoing feedback in general, we're always eager to hear your ideas on ways we can improve. Being a Top 100 Employer isn't just an award: it's a challenge to all of us to find ways to make Dalhousie an even better place to work. I’m confident we’re up to that challenge.

Congratulations to all of you,

Richard Florizone
