A special cultural event will be celebrated at Dalhousie Agricultural Campus in Bible Hill this weekend.

The International Student Association (ISA) of Dal-AC campus is organizing a festival from India called Holi - The Festival Of Colours on Oct. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Alumni gardens.

The event is open solely for Dal-AC students, with the intention of opening to the public next year.

Mitesh Patel, executive secretary for the International Student Association at Dal AC, which is hosting the event, told the Truro Daily News in an email that the ISA applies for a budget which “varies between $8,000 to $9,000” a year to organize cultural events on and around campus as well as for tours around Nova Scotia, mostly for international students.

Patel, a second year plant science program student from

India and one of six ISA members, said Holi is “one of the most famous festivals” celebrated in various parts of India and in the “past few years, Holi has been celebrated in European countries, the United States, South Africa and Australia on a grand scale.”

Two aspects of the upcoming event include embracing different colours and music and well as a photo booth where students “can flaunt their multi colored stains.”

Dal AC participants should wear old white clothes. Students will be charged $3 to participate and tickets will be sold at the gates from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
