A celebration of Apuknajit, the Mid-Winter Feast

The Indigenous Program Planning Committee of the Dal Libraries invites you to join us or a celebration of Apuknajit, the Mi'kmaw mid-winter feast honouring the spirit of winter. 

We will celebrate in both Halifax and Truro with a Mi’kmaw welcome and smudging ceremony at 4:30 p.m. followed by a feast at 5:00 p.m.

Designed in consultation with Catherine Martin, Director of Indigenous Community Engagement, the menu will blend the traditional with the contemporary, including lusknikn and molasses, beef stew, and blueberry tarts.

Additional Information

Following the feast, at 6:00 p.m., we will listen to teachings from Gerald Gloade who will be in person at the Truro celebration in Program Rooms 218/219. The talk will be streamed to Halifax and will include an opportunity to ask questions.
