About
The Department of Business and Social Sciences is the most diversified among the academic departments in the Faculty of Agriculture, in terms of academic expertise of faculty members. The research of faculty members in the Department spans three broad academic or scholarly areas, including: i) Agricultural Business; ii) Agricultural Economics; and iii) Humanities and Social Sciences. The Department is also home to the Rural Research Centre, and Agricultural & Resource Economics Research Group, as well as leading research in Value Chain Analysis. The Department has a rich tradition (and long history) of providing service to industry and communities, made possible through research and various outreach/extension initiatives. Our faculty and staff are also actively engaged in various international collaborations and partnerships.
Undergraduate Programs
The Department offers various undergraduate degrees, including:
- BSc (Agriculture): with a major in Agribusiness
- BSc (Agriculture): with a major in Agricultural Economics
- Bachelor of Agriculture (International Food Business). This unique “dual degree” is offered jointly with Aeres University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Graduates earn a BBA from Aeres University along with the Dalhousie degree
- Bachelor of Technology (Small Business Management)
Diploma Programs
Our Department offers a two-year Diploma in Business Management (DBM). Students in the DBM program can obtain a specialization in one of two areas, namely: i) Dairy Farming; and ii) Agriculture.
