Multifactor Authentication:
Multifactor authentication in the CCV has been implemented. If you have a CCV account, make sure that you have access to the email address connected to your CCV account to avoid interruptions in access.
CIHR will transition to a new narrative-style tri-agency CV (TCV) for upcoming competitions. This new format has been developed following extensive consultation with users and will allow applicants flexibility to contextualize the research contributions that best highlight their expertise and impact.
To provide sufficient time to adapt to the new CV format, the tri-agency CV will not be used for the Fall 2025 Project Grant competition. CIHR will introduce the new tri-agency CV in the Project Grant competition beginning with the Spring 2026 competition.
In 2025, CIHR use the TCV (narrative style) instead of CCV for some competitions. Competitions using TCV will be clearly marked in the funding opportunity. CIHR’s goal is to ensure that the template is effective for both applicants and reviewers while providing support and guidance for a smooth transition.

Clinical Trials update:
As of January 1, 2022, clinical trials must be registered, in a publicly available, free to access, searchable clinical trial registry complying with WHO’s agreed standards before the first visit of the first participant.
Clinical Trials Policy Implementation:
In the first years of policy implementation, the intent was awareness and education. Now the policy is fully implemented, and post-implementation monitoring is in effect. The policy is referenced in funding opportunities, CIHR funding policies, letters of decision and authorization for funding.
Clinical Trials Policy Compliance – monitoring and reporting:
CIHR is monitoring compliances with these policy requirements on an annual basis. CIHR will annually publish aggregated data indicating the degree of compliance with these requirements. CIHR is working with researchers to ensure compliance but if activities purposely contravene clinical trial disclosure policy, new CIHR funds may be withheld until outstanding requirements are met.
