SSHRC Explore and Exchange Grants, funded through Dalhousie’s SSHRC Institutional Grant, support activities that develop, increase, or strengthen research excellence in the social sciences and humanities at Dalhousie University. The total funding available for this year’s competition is anticipated to be ~$85,000.

Explore Grants

Explore Grants can be used to develop a pilot or research project or to help seed an external grant application in the social sciences and humanities (e.g., SSHRC Insight Grant or Insight Development Grant).

The maximum funding value per grant is $10,000.

Exchange Grants

Exchange Grants can be used to fund knowledge mobilization (KM) activities, namely to travel to/virtually attend a conference or to organize a KM activity such as a conference or workshop. Proposed activities must help seed new external grant applications in the social sciences and humanities or disseminate the results of SSHRC-funded research.

The maximum funding value per grant is $10,000 to organize a KM activity or $5,000 to travel to a conference.
