Dalhousie’s International Travel Policy has been revised.
Changes include:
- Risk assessment/safety planning is not required for individual travel to lower-risk destinations.
- Undergraduate students can request the Dean’s permission to undertake a work integrated learning in their home country if it is subject to a high-risk advisory from Global Affairs Canada.
- Deans, Vice-Presidents and the Provost have decision-making authority regarding travel to high risk destinations by students, faculty and staff within their Faculties or administrative units.
- The President has decision-making authority regarding travel to high-risk destinations by staff within their administrative units, including Deans, Vice-Presidents, or the Provost.
- Expectations and requirements for field course preparation and the role of the field course supervisor are clarified.
- Travel health insurance coverage requirements are clarified.
- The Policy specifically references the ability to access student and employee accommodation policies where needed to support international travel.
- The definition of graduate students is updated to include students in certain professional programs.
