1. Planning and Dissemination Grants (Summer 2024 Competition)
The Planning and Dissemination Grants are intended to provide support for planning and/or dissemination activities (either virtual or in-person) consistent with the mandate of CIHR and relevant to CIHR Institutes and Initiatives. |
$40,000 is available to fund applications relevant to the CIHR Institute of Cancer Research. |

2. Catalyst Grant: Moving Upstream: Structural Determinants of Health
The overall purpose of this opportunity is to support robust interdisciplinary research to analyze, contextualize and/or evaluate how structural or “system-level” drivers (e.g., legislation and policies, governance structures, ecological and commercial determinants, etc.) can create, maintain or exacerbate health (in)equity and population health across sub-groups, regions, contexts and settings. |
Structural Determinants of Cancer Inequities Pool |
This pool will support applications with a focus on research on the structural determinants of health and health inequities that impact cancer risk and outcomes. |

3. TRANSCAN-3 Joint Transnational Call 2024: “Combination therapies against cancer: New opportunities for translational research”

Proposals will have to cover one of three specific aims:
- Development of new tumour-derived models to test new drug combination therapies
- Design and development of high-throughput drug combinations screening platforms to test new combination therapies
- Use of immunotherapy and radiotherapy combination strategies to overcome drug resistance
Deadline to submit pre-proposal to TRANSCAN-3: July 5, 2024
Note: Applicants from Canadian institutions that are invited to the full proposal stage will be required to submit a full proposal to the TRANSCAN-3 Joint Call Secretariat (JCS) by November 29, 2024 and an abbreviated CIHR Application to ResearchNet by December 3, 2024.
