Participants will be able to:

  1. Provide insights into why Indigenous children such a focus; the impact of parental lived histories
  2. Outline why disaggregated data are so important for programs and policies
  3. Describe why multi-media messages and learning are so important for Indigenous populations.

 

Biography: Margo Lainne Greenwood, of Cree ancestry, is a Canadian senator and Indigenous scholar with expertise in early childhood care and education of Indigenous children. Greenwood was the founding Scientific Director and then Academic Leader of the National Collaborating Centre for Aboriginal Health for 22 years and a Professor in the First Nations Studies and Education programs at the University of Northern British Columbia. In 2021, Greenwood was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada for "her scholarship as a professor of early childhood education, and for her transformational leadership in Indigenous health policy".
