Posted by Jaq-Lin Larder on February 12, 2024 in Research Funding

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), the Canadian Forces Health Services and the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR) partnered to create the Joint Federal Research Funding Program for Military Personnel and Veterans. This research funding program aims to enhance the well-being of Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, and their families by supporting Canadian research focused on supporting these populations.

They are currently looking for researchers for a funding opportunity on Experiences of LGBT Purge Survivors with Veterans Affairs Canada Programs and Services.

Veterans Affairs Canada invites applications for research that explores the intersectionality of LGBT Purge survivors’ experiences and characteristics, conduct a qualitative research study of LGBT Purge survivors’ experiences when seeking support from and accessing VAC programs and services, and make recommendations for VAC programs and services to account for the identified LGBT Purge Survivor characteristics’ specific considerations when applying for VAC programs and services.

The purpose of this research is to increase VAC’s knowledge and understanding of LGBT Purge survivors’ experiences as they apply for and access VAC programs and services, and to identify the sex, gender, age, 2SLGBTQI+ orientation, and military service considerations that are barriers or facilitators unique to LGBT Purge survivors.

The due date for applications is March 1, 2024 at 11:59 PM (PST).
