ORS is excited to announce that the EU and Canada negotiations for the association to Pillar II of Horizon Europe have concluded. Association to Horizon Europe is the deepest form of collaboration offered by the EU in research and innovation, with a budget of €53.5 billion. Pending the completion of all necessary validations on both sides, the Association Agreement is expected to be signed in 2024. The primary focus of Pillar II is on shared global challenges: climate, energy, digital economy, and health.

Once the agreement is signed, Canadian researchers can collaborate in calls under Pillar II of the programme on equal terms with entities from the EU Member States. Researchers will also have access to networks of research in the EU and 18 other countries associated with Horizon Europe as of 2024.
