Canada Biomedical Research Fund - Biosciences Research Infrastructure Fund (CBRF-BRIF) Stage 2 Competition launched March 2, 2023.

CBRF will fund $500K-$5M per year over 4 years (total value of $215 million across Canada) and must be based on partnered, applied research in the biomanufacturing and life sciences sector to accelerate the translation of discoveries into products and services to strengthen the sector; and/or partnered talent development to provide skills and training needed to drive Canada’s biosciences research needs.

BRIF will fund infrastructure that directly supports a research component submitted to the same competition; the total cost of which must be greater than $1 million and cannot have been purchased prior to April 1, 2023.  CFI will fund up to 60% of eligible infrastructure costs. BRIF will fund in total up to $360 million (max $277 million for infrastructure; and $83 million for associated operating costs).

Note: All applications at Stage 2 must be endorsed by one of the hubs funded under Stage 1 of the CBRF-BRIF competition.
