Beginning February 1, 2023, Dalhousie faculty and staff will have access to a two-week trial of a new Elsevier SciVal module, called the Impact Module. The SciVal Impact Module provides data, metrics and benchmarking to help support evidence of societal impact. Currently the module contains data on research publications cited in policy documents. Future releases will allow access to additional metrics such as media mentions and patent citations.  

Two online demonstration sessions will be held via Zoom to introduce users to the product:

February 1 from 3 - 4 pm

Faculty and staff are encouraged to use the module during the trial period (Feb 1 - 15) and provide feedback. The module will be accessible as an additional module within Dalhousie’s current SciVal product. Researchers may find the policy citations data useful for their CVs as evidence of research impact and for identifying how their research has influenced specific policies. Research administrators may find the data useful for measuring progress on key performance indicators or benchmarking against other institutions in areas of research specialty.
