The 2021-22 Report on Competitions is now publicly available in an accessible format on the Open Government portal. Highlights of the report, including a selection of facts and figures, is also available on the Annual report on competitions webpage of SSHRC’s website.

The report provides an annual review of SSHRC’s merit review processes to inform continuous improvement and corporate and public-facing reporting. The report includes an overview of funding opportunities, featuring details on changes to the merit review processes and results of committee member surveys and observer reports.

The 2021-22 report builds on enhancements made in recent years, such as the inclusion of multi-year survey results, data on the disciplinary backgrounds of committee members, and visuals of success rate trends. In addition to providing early EDI data trends and a picture of committee member recruitment challenges, the report also provides feedback related to members’ experiences with adjudicating during the pandemic.
