The United States Department of Defense is offering several funding opportunities that are open to Canadian researchers.
Peer-reviewed Cancer Research Program
- Behavioral Health Science Award for research covering the spectrum of behavioral health science including prevention, survivorship, quality of life, and psychosocial research. Valued at up to $1M USD for four years. Pre-applications due July 29.
- Career Development Award for early career researchers to work with a mentor. Valued at up to $400,000 USD for three years. Pre-applications due July 29.
- Idea Award for innovative, untested, high-risk concepts, theories, paradigms, and/or methods in cancer research. Valued at up to $500,000 USD for three years. Pre-applications due May 20.
- Impact Award for hypothesis-driven, high impact research. Valued at up to $1.25M USD for three years. Pre-applications due May 20.
- Translational Team Science Award for translational studies associated with an ongoing or completed clinical trial. Valued at up to $2.5M USD for four years. Pre-applications due May 3.
Ovarian Cancer Research Program
- Omics Consortium Award for multi-institutional efforts to study the origin of ovarian cancer. Development stream: Valued at up to $400,000 USD for two years. Consortium stream: Valued at up to $2.5M USD for four years. Pre-proposals due June 24.
Spinal Cord Injury Research Program
- Clinical Trial Award for phase 0, 1, or 2 clinical trials. Valued at up to $3M USD for four years. Pre-applications due May 24.
- Translational Research Award for accelerating promising ideas in SCI research into clinical applications. Valued at up to $1.25M USD for three years. Pre-applications due May 24.
- Investigator-initiated Research Award for research that has the potential to make an important contribution to SCI research, patient care, and/or quality of life. Valued at up to $500,000 USD for three years. Pre-applications due May 24.
