CFI has re-launched the call for proposals for the Exceptional Opportunities Fund – COVID-19 competition. This Exceptional Opportunities Fund (EOF) competition is open for proposals from all disciplines that can demonstrate a direct and immediate impact on current and pressing research issues related to COVID-19.
Internal Competition:
Dalhousie has an institutional envelope of $1.2M for this competition. Researchers interested in applying must submit a one-page Expressions of Interest (EOI) to their Dean by Monday, June 15.
Fund details:
- Available funds from CFI: $25M
- Dalhousie institutional envelope: $1.2M
- Applications may request $200,000 - $1.5M from CFI
- CFI will support 100% of costs; matching funds are not required, but encouraged
- Deadline to apply: July 6, 2020
Eligibility:
- The EOF competition is open for proposals from all disciplines that can demonstrate a direct and immediate impact on current and pressing research issues related to COVID-19. This may include, but is not limited to, research in epidemiology, virology, vaccine development, diagnostics, therapeutic devices, mental health, social and economic policy and public health response.
- Research equipment must be for urgent needs; a compelling case must be presented on how the infrastructure is an indispensable element of a current research project related to COVID-19
- Up to 5 researchers may be listed on one application, working collaboratively or independently while sharing the requested infrastructure
- Researchers must be recognized leaders and currently engaged in COVID-19 research
