Funding, News and Announcements

Dear SSHRC Leaders,

As you may be aware, in partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), SSHRC has supported a number of initiatives in migration research including most recently the Syrian Refugee Arrival, Resettlement and Integration funding opportunity in 2016 and currently the calls on migration within the European Union’s Horizon 2020 framework.

We are also very happy to announce that SSHRC will be partnering with IRCC in the upcoming International Metropolis Conference taking place in Ottawa from June 24-28, 2019. The conference theme is The Promise of Migration: Inclusion, Economic Growth and Global Cooperation, and you will find full details within the attached call for proposals [PDF - 517 KB]. Please note that the deadline for the submission proposals for individual papers, workshops, and posters is February 15, 2019.

We are also pleased to inform you that registration for the International Metropolis Conference 2019 is now open. We encourage you to register as early as possible as the month of June is a peak tourist season which may affect the availability for your accommodation. In addition, registering early will allow you to take full advantage of the discounts offered and ensure for you a place at the Conference.
