Michele Fash, Director of Business Development, ACENET

Information on CANARIE:
As you may know, CANARIE provides digital research infrastructure and tools for Canada’s research, education and innovation communities. We are hoping to meet with Dalhousie University researchers to discuss the evolution of CANARIE’s Research Software program and how it can best meet the needs of the research community.

Our goal is to visit a limited number of universities to:
-          Solicit feedback from the community on our proposed software re-use strategy; and
-          Seek guidance on how to best promote research software tools.

The feedback we generate during this consultation will help to shape a national strategy to promote the paradigm of reusable research software tools and encourage adoption of these tools.

Information on ACENET:
ACENET
is a partnership of twelve Atlantic Canada institutions to organize themselves into a large scale high-performance computing (HPC) facilities for research. The nine institutions include; Memorial University of Newfoundland, University of New Brunswick, Mount Allison University, Dalhousie University, St. Francis Xavier University, Saint Mary's University and the University of Prince Edward Island, Cape Breton University, Mount St. Vincent University, Acadia University, Nova Scotia Community College, and NSCAD University. ACEnet also partners with CANARIE.

They will provide a brief overview of ACENET, speak about how ACENET depends on CANARIE as a vital component of the digital infrastructure in the region, and how ACENET can support reusable research software development.
