The Heart and Stroke Foundation is pleased to announce the 2017/18 core research programs. The suite of 2017/18 programs are as follows:

a.     Grant-in-Aid (GIA): Submission Deadline: By 4pm EDT on 01 September 2016. New this year:
·       Figures, charts, tables, etc. can be appended after the references and must not exceed five (5) pages.  The number of pages should reflect the size and scope of the proposed research.  Pages beyond the five (5) page limit will NOT be evaluated by the reviewers.
·       The applicant is required to declare all secured and proposed (i.e. submitted in the same funding cycle) partnered funding at the time of submission.  There can be no overlap/duplication in expenses or activities with partnered funding. See Section 6 (page 14 of the Submission Guidelines).
·       The Foundation will be offering as part of the GIA and National New Investigator (NNI) program funding specifically targeted towards the improvement of the heart health for women.  Applicants applying for this opportunity will also be considered in the regular pool of GIA and/or NNI applications.  Guidelines for application are identical to the GIA and/or NNI except where otherwise indicated.  Please note, all other GIA and NNI guidelines and requirements apply (e.g. maximum number of applications eligible for submission).
·       All applicants (irrespective of proposal focus) to the GIA and NNI programs are required to include a sex and gender-based analysis in their research design (or provide rationale as to why it would not be relevant to their project).
