Posted by Suman Jha on January 4, 2016 in Research Funding

The Canadian Cancer Society is pleased to announce that online application forms are now available for the upcoming Innovation Grants, Innovation to Impact Grants, Prevention Research Grants, Knowledge to Action Grants and Travel Awards competitions. Please visit the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute website for program and application information.

Innovation Grants:
These grants have been created to support unconventional (“high risk/high reward”) concepts, approaches or methodologies to address problems in cancer research. Budgets awarded may be up to $100,000 per year and a maximum of $200,000 per grant.
Abstract registration deadline: February 16 (as February 15 is a holiday)
Full application deadline: April 1 (Note that abstract registrations must be submitted in order to submit a full application)

Innovation to Impact Grants:
These grants are intended to support the further development of successful findings based on the goals originally explored through a CCSRI Innovation Grant. Therefore, only investigators with a funded CCSRI Innovation Grant are eligible for this program. Applications can be made within 2 years of the end date of the original Innovation Grant and a maximum of one re-application will be permitted. Budgets awarded may be up to $150,000 per year for up to 3 years, to a maximum of $450,000 per grant.

Abstract registration deadline: February 16 (as February 15 is a holiday)
Full application deadline: April 1 (Note that abstract registrations must be submitted in order to submit a full application)

Prevention Research Grants:

These grants have been created to support and accelerate research and the application of new knowledge with imminent application potential relevant to cancer prevention. Proposed projects must demonstrate a specific and defined potential for impact on cancer incidence; multidisciplinary collaboration is encouraged. Budgets awarded may be up to $150,000 per year, for up to 4 years, to a maximum of $600,000 per grant.
NOTE DATE CHANGE! LOI deadline:  February 1
Full application deadline: June 25 (Note that only successful LOI applicants will be invited to submit full proposals).

Knowledge to Action Grants:

These grants have been created to encourage ideas that will close the gap between what is known from research and what is done with that knowledge. This program supports primary knowledge translation (KT) research projects in behavioral and psychosocial sciences. Budgets awarded to a maximum of $100,000 to be spent over one or two years.
Abstract registration deadline: February 1
Full application deadline: April 15

(Note that abstract registrations will be reviewed and those that are not considered appropriate for this funding opportunity will be triaged.)

Travel Awards:
This program is offered to PhD or MD/PhD students, and post-doctoral/medical/clinical fellows to defray costs of travel, registration, accommodation, meals, ground transportation, etc. associated with making a scientific presentation as a first author or presenter at a conference, symposium or other appropriate professional meeting. The travel award will not exceed $2,000.
Application deadline: January 15

Grant submissions
All applications must be submitted through the online application system (EGrAMS) by 5p.m. EST on the deadline date. Submissions will not be accepted beyond these times.
