Tristan Cleveland
Tristan Cleveland is an urban planner and PhD student. He is studying why so few new developments in Canada meet recognized standards for supporting human health and wellbeing, and how to fix that. His work has included developing national urban design standards and analyzing the connection between sprawl, infrastructure costs, and transportation for local governments. He is inspired by four years he spent as an advocate for sustainable planning at the Ecology Action Centre, in Halifax. He has written a weekly column on urban issues with The Star and continues to comment regularly on urban issues in various media and publications.
