Professional Development Reflections
You are welcome to take your reflections in any direction that you believe to be appropriate and useful to your own development as a teacher. The questions that follow should be used simply as a prompt to stimulate your reflections on your professional development and practice teaching experiences.
Professional Development Reflections
Participants will set goals for their professional development in this context and provide a one-paragraph annotation of each of their experiences, adjusting their goals as they progress through the workshops.
Some questions you might consider:
- What prompted me to attend this session?
- What goals do I have in attending this session?
- What one or two key points did I take away from this session?
- What excited/interested me about this session?
- What new skills, information or understanding have I taken away from this session?
- How will I use what I learned in my own teaching? How will my students be affected by these changes? What ideas can I use immediately and which are more useful for future application?
- Will what I learned in this session change my teaching practices or philosophy? If so, in what way(s)?
- Did I agree/disagree with the ideas presented? Why or why not?
- What do I still want to know? What questions do I still have?
- What other types of sessions do I need to attend and/or readings do I need to do to further my understanding in this area of teaching and learning?
- What did I learn about myself as a teacher through this professional development experience?
