Staff & Other Costs

Applicable taxes will be charged on all rates & fees, unless specifically exempt, in accordance with relevant legislation

 

All costs listed do not include tax unless otherwise indicated

 

For rental fees, please choose the specific space you are interested in renting: Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, Sculpture Court, Room 401, VIP Room

Staff costs

Note: The number of staff used for each event is determined by the Technical Coordinator and House Manager according to their needs.

Technicians
3 minimum, for a minimum of 4 hours each:
  • $32.25 per hour. Meal break before 5 hours or meal penalty charged
  • Overtime at time and a half after 10 hours
Stagehands
As required, minimum 4 hours each:
  • $27.25 per hour. Meal break before 5 hours or meal penalty charged
  • Overtime at time and a half after 10 hours
Riggers
As required, minimum 4 hours each:
  • $41.25 per hour
House Manager
1 per show, minimum 4 hours:
  • $32.25 per hour
  • Overtime at time and a half after 10 hours
Ushers
8 minimum, for a minimum of 3 hours each:
  • $18.25 per hour
Merchandise Sellers
As required:
  • $18.25 per hour

Other costs

CIF:
  • $1.30 per ticket
Box Office Fee:
  • The greater of 6% of net ticket sales or $200.00 minimum per performance
  • Net is defined as gross ticket sales minus HST and CIF
Ticket Printing:
  • $.07 per ticket printed
SOCAN Licence Fee:
  • If applicable, per tariff guidelines

Re:Sound Licence Fee:
  • If applicable, per tariff guidelines
Piano Tuning:
  • $150.00 (touchup $75.00 if required)
Concessions:
  • 20% net sales
  • Net is defined as gross sales minus HST
Bar Services:

The Arts Centre is the only ticket agent for events in the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium

Insurance

All licensees for the building are required to obtain general liability insurance coverage, including third party bodily injury and property damage coverage in amount not less than $5,000,000.00 inclusive, per occurrence, naming Dalhousie University as additional insured. Insurance is mandatory and proof of insurance must be provided to the Dalhousie Arts Centre prior to the event
